Music Therapy

First Session:  June 14th @ 6:30 pm
New Life Baptist Church Fellowship Hall
(Yoakum, TX)

The session will last approximately one hour.  Musical instruments will be provided.

The Down Syndrome Foundation of South Texas is sponsoring a music therapy program for children with special needs.  Benefits of music therapy are:  improving motor skills, communication, academic skills, and addressing pre-academic skills such as attention span, following directions, and eye contact. Playing instruments and singing songs can incorporate both academic concepts within the songs themselves and encourage positive group participation.

Magic Bounce Event 6/30

Please join members of the Down Syndrome Foundation of South Texas for a family gathering at Magic Bounce in Victoria.  Please RSVP to dsfstx@yahoo.com with the number of adults and children attending.

Market Days 5/19

Please visit our food booth at the Hallettsville Market days this Saturday, May 19th from 11 am - 3 pm.  We will be selling hamburgers and chips. The money raised at this event will be used to help support future programs we wish to sponsor.  Our booth will be located inside the KC Hall in the kitchen area.

The Results Are In!

All expenses have been paid and all donations have been received.  Our 1st DSFSTX Buddy Walk® profited $12,393.84.  From that amount, the National Down Syndrome Society received $1,000.  NDSS uses the funds raised from the Buddy Walk® to support public awareness, build community relations, and help protect the rights and remove barriers for individuals with Down syndrome.

Dash For Downs 5/12

Please support the 2nd Annual Dash for Downs event on May 12th in Yoakum.  This event is a 5K & Kids Fun Run through historic downtown Yoakum, benefiting the Down Syndrome Foundation of South Texas and the South Texas Sparkles Cheer Squad.
